Clearly the guy that picked up Betty at the bar in last night’s “Mad Men” had travelled back in time from 2008, after watching SNL’s “Don Draper’s Guide to Picking Up Woman.” That guy nearly out Drapered Draper in his bar pickup skills. Forget the Pickup Artist or “The Game” I’m now a Draper man all the way.
This article is like the political equivalent of figuring out what is going to happen in the upcoming season of Lost. Sure we all have our theories but you know Obama’s got some game changer none of us saw. (Crossing fingers that he wins and this article isn’t a big ole jinx)
O’Reilly is such an idiot (yes i know big newsflash there). here he goes off saying we might have a far left president, a far left congress and a liberal media. As a result there will be no one to reign in their far left agenda. However the most ludicrous thing he says is at the end when he states the “the media is supposed to be the check and balance on Congress.” I’m sorry Bill but the third branch of government is the Judaical branch, not the media.
Outside of freedom of the press, the media isn’t really in the Constitution. and it certainly is not a branch of government which is supposed to have checks and balances on anything. on top of that the media allowed the GOP congress under bush to run rampant. Even if O’Reilly is right that the media has a purpose to provide a check and balance on congress (or perhaps more accurately to inform the public of the truth of what Congress is doing) they’ve been a failure at doing that for years. where was the check and balance on Iraq, where was the check and balance on deregulation. the press has been neutered for years, and it being a GOP or Democrat congress won’t effect how the media covers it at all.
does anyone really care that this is finally coming out? i feel Axel’s opportunity to release this was a few years when he first showed up at the VMA’s.
Look Axel until you get Slash back in the band i don’t care what you’re up. And a guy with a KFC bucket on his head is not a suitable replacement for Slash and his awesome hat (is Buckethead even still in the band?)
i recently read christopher vogler’s book on the screenwriting, “The Writer’s Journey,” where basically he rips off joseph campbell but talks about movies (not that i’ve read campbell but i can guess). sadly my local library was out of the most recent addition but i guess that allowed me the honor of reading the 1992 edition.
I’m sure the more recent edition referred to such great hero’s journeys as “Independence Day” and “Speed” but why read about that when you can learn about how “An Officer and a Gentleman” exemplifies the journey of a hero. Come on Volger i feel like even in 1992 using ”An Officer and a Gentleman” was way out of date. That would be like Lincoln citing the Stamp Act as a reason for the Civil War.
Oh also at the end of the book Volger mentions Star Wars. And it looks like in 1992 someone was very excited about George Lucas making some sequels. Oh Volger, if only the you of 2004 could talk to the you of 1992. He could have told you to save that excitment for the 4th Indian Jones…no? okay how about a sequel to THX?
